Ornamental Features
Dark Blue Plumbago features showy clusters of blue star-shaped flowers with navy blue stripes at the ends of the branches from early spring to late fall. It has dark green evergreen foliage which emerges light green in spring. The oval leaves remain dark green throughout the winter.
Landscape Attributes
Dark Blue Plumbago is a multi-stemmed evergreen shrub with a shapely form and gracefully arching branches. Its average texture blends into the landscape, but can be balanced by one or two finer or coarser trees or shrubs for an effective composition.
This is a relatively low maintenance shrub, and is best pruned in late winter once the threat of extreme cold has passed. It is a good choice for attracting butterflies to your yard. It has no significant negative characteristics.
